The URISE Program Graduates Its Inaugural Class

August 13, 2018

During the week of August 6th, TBSI at Berkeley bid farewell to the first cohort of the Undergraduate Research Internship in Science & Engineering (URISE) Program.  The 2018 URISE scholars completed nine weeks of independent research, hosted by UC Berkeley professors, who are associated with TBSI.  The undergraduate scholars were: Meina Piao Cippollone (UC Berkeley), Rahul Gupta (U. of Rochester), Lillian Lau (U of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign), and Niko Vlahakis (UC Berkeley).  During the last week of the program, the scholars presented the outcomes of their research to the faculty and students of TBSI at Berkeley, as well as to the larger Berkeley community at a poster session.  Connie Chang-Hasnain, TBSI co-Director and Professor, Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences Department, UC Berkeley, and Liwei Lin, TBSI co-Deputy Director and Professor, Mechanical Engineering Department, UC Berkeley, presented certificates of completion to the four students.

TBSI will continue to support the URISE Program in 2019.  The 2019 program dates will be announced in November 2018 when new applications will be taken.
